A provision in a military construction bill that passed the U.S. House this week aims to free up federal money to pay for traffic improvements around high-growth military installations, such as Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
U.S. Rep. Denny Heck (D-Olympia) will tour Pierce County's Carlson Paving Products plant from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to promote a campaign to support U.S. manufacturers.
Carlson, based in Pierce County, makes paving machine equipment accessories.
